The Joint - Secretariat Meeting of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Health and Environment (APRFHE)

           The Joint-Secretariat Meeting of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum on Health and Environment was held at Bali, Indonesia on20-21 October 2022 by Indonesia (Chair of APRFHE. The participants were country representatives from Malaysia (Former Chair), Japan (TWG Chair), Thailand (Former Chair, TWG Chair, and TWG Co-Chair), WHO SEARO, WHO WPRO, WHO Representative to Indonesia, UNEP. In addition, there were representatives from Republic of Korea and the Philippines (Former Chair) participated the meeting virtually. 
           The representatives of Ministry of Public Health, Thailand  who attended the meeting were Mrs. Jittima Rodsawad and Miss Nawarat Apichainan from Department of Health, and Ms. Yaowares Oppamayun from Food and Drug Administration.

Objectives: To discuss immediate and long-term plans of the Regional Forum including to review and reflect past achievements and challenges, and to discuss the Regional Forum sustainability, and recommend measures to sustain the Regional Forum.

Results of the meeting: suggested and had recommendations;
             1. The Regional Forum brings positive impacts that serve as a platform to be networking, providing the evidence-based, sharing knowledge and best practices, advocating decision maker on environment and health issues in the region level, and guiding member countries to develop a national action plan (NEHAP) which this forum should be continued to active.
             2. The thematic working groups (TWGs) should review and develop the TWG work plan as early as possible. 
             3. The National Focal Points of member countries should be updated immediately in 2022.
             4. The founding should be support by Chair and lead countries of activities or partners, and using virtual and hybrid conference/ meetings to lower the cost,
             5. The website and logo [branding] of the Regional Forum should be established (early 2023, UNEP).
             6. The ministerial meeting could be conducted back-to-back with the high - level international events in 2024.
